happy I’m ready to go!

What equipment do I need to use FBA? FBAPower? FBAScout?

I'm ready to dive into FBA headfirst! But I don't have any special equipment. What do I need to get started? I've read about Dymo printers, and Scanfobs but I'm still confused. Please help! :)

To use FBA, your items (in most cases) need a special barcode label that covers any existing UPCs on your items to help Amazion identify your inventory.

To use FBAPower to list and label your items, you need a label printer to print your FBA label individually. Most Dymo printers will work. The most commonly used label printer is the Dymo 450. There is also a link to additional Dymo labels.

    Dymo 450 Label Printer
    Dymo Address Labels

To use FBAScout, you need an Android phone. Here is a list of Recommended Devices.

You will scan ten times faster with a wireless Bluetooth laser scanner.
    We recommend the Scanfob™ -2002

If you want to build a one-handed scanning solution like this:

    you'll need these:

    Scanfob Clip
    iArmband Case
    Clip Attachments

To use FBA in general, you need a computer or laptop with a high-speed internet connection.

Here are links to printers, labels, and barcodes scanners from Amazon.com

You can also find the Symbol LS2208 USB scanner with stand on eBay for a good price.

There are many different hardware configurations that will work but in my experience, good, quality hardware pay for itself many times over in dependability and longevity.

      Hi!

I'm not all that knowledgable about technology, so please help me understand the equipment I will need in order to subscribe to your service ...

I have a Windows 7 phone, so is it correct that I must use FBAPower with WebScout, because FBAScout only works with Apple products?

What kind of portable scanner will integrate with a Windows 7 phone, so I can "scout" for profitable books outside the house?

Will I be using this same scanner after I bring the books home to help me enter sales listings into my Amazon account?

If I can't afford to purchase a Dymo single label printer right away, am I still able to use my regular printer with your service?

Sorry, I don't "get" how all this stuff works. It all just seems like magic to me!

      Thanks,
      MF
      • You can use WebScout on Windows 7 phones but it will be much slower than the dedicated FBAScout app on iPhone and Android.

You can contact Serialio.com about scanner compatibility:
        http://serialio.com/products/scanner/...

You can enter items manually into WebScout. Again, just not as fast.

You can use the Scanfob at home as well as mobile but most users find that switching these settings back and forth is not worth the savings of an inexpensive USB scanner.

You don't have to use the Dymo. You can save items by clicking the FNSKU box as you list and then printing from within your Amazon account on Avery labels. This will be at least twice the work as you will touch items once to list and then again to label. The Dymo 450 can be purchase don Amazon for ~$75 and pays for itself very quickly

I'm considering buying a ipod touch for fba scout. My concern is the wi-fi connection. Is anyone using a ipod touch....and how is it working for you?

Has anyone tried using the touch camera/laser thingy versus a bluetooth scanner?

      Thanks!

      • Thank you Chris. That answers my concern.

It's probably better to get a smart phone and add internet access to my Sprint service. Do you have a smart phone preference? I was considering getting an unlocked phone (anything to not lock me into sprint for another two years and give me flexibility to switch.

BTW, I ordered your book retail arbitrage. It should arrive today. I can't wait to read it. My husband and I want to take the PAC once we've read your book and sent our first shipment to FBA

So grateful for experts like you willing to share their insights.

      • I've used the EVO for the past year and recently upgraded to the Galaxy S2. They are both high end phones. You can probably buy an EVO off of eBay for a good price:

        http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cell-Phones-S...

As long as you buy the phone yourself, you can add service without a contract.

We decided on a Samsung Galaxy with at ATT 3G month to month data plan. It's definitely an improvement. I think we're ready to sign up for PAC and FBAScout.

Is the PAC with the 2 month trial of FBAScout and FBA power still available?

      Will write you a PM

I already have a Brother P-Touch QL-500 label printer will this work instead of the DYMO?
I just don't want to buy another printer if I don't have to. I got this one awhile ago to print address labels and eBay shipping labels.

      Thanks for your help :-)
